Sledge,It's been years since I've been on this thing, but I want to say you literally were the positive catalyst who made me rethink how I saw cops. It was your affirming a philosophical words that ended up having a huge impact on myself and how I ultimately was able to view the "men and women in blue".
Incidentally, I'm doing a heck of a lot better now then where I was at years ago. Still have "PTSD", but much of it has been worked out.
By the way, the violent crime I went through had a huge impact on my psyche, but from this I've often thought of what cops might experience. My personal hate crime I went through from this guy "only" lasted seven hours, but many of you (i.e."cops")don't know if you'll come home alive to your families, try to keep your addresses hidden just in case somebody bad wants to track you down (along with perhaps loved ones), often experience violent situations, and see the scum of the earth on a regular basis. So now if a cop now seems a little jaded and high strung (among perhaps other things) I no longer automatically rush to the conclusion he/she is a horses behind, but instead can think of what you all go through to make some of you a bit stressed out and jaded. You guys have a job that many people couldn't stomach, including myself.
Anyways, Sledge, you had a great impact on a certain aspect of my healing years ago in ways I don't think you're even aware of. At any rate, although I'm sure I'll never meet yourself down on this earthly planet to say a formal, face to face "Thank You", I hope very much to get this opportunity with yourself in heaven.
You're a fine man, Sledge. : )
