Several months ago I was dispatched to contact a victim of a possible hit and run accident. Our department does not investigate accidents but since the Highway Patrol was busy with other accidents at the time I was dispatched to contact the victim and gather some info.

It seems that the driver of the suspect vehicle which had just left a bar in a remote Conservation Area had been stopped at a stop sign and then continued to cross the highway onto the gravel road on the other side hitting the victim's vehicle which was stopped at the stop sign on the opposite side.

The victim followed the suspect and eventually the suspect stopped and the victim made contact with the suspect. Suspect provides her current proof of insurance to victim and shortly thereafter decides to leave while victim still has insurance card. Suspect is described as a white female wearing black mini skirt (emphasis on mini) and black fishnet stockings.

When the trooper is free from his other accident I advise him of the suspect's name and some details of accident. Trooper obtained the suspect's home address through DOR computer and responded to her residence. He later told me that upon his arrival he found her attempting to unlock her house but having considerable difficulty getting the door knob to hold still.

As the trooper approached the suspect he observed a strong foul odor and then soon observed the source, a brown liquid running down the suspect's legs and fishnet stockings. After the suspect unlocked the door she was allowed to change her clothes and with every step there was a 'splat'. She undressed and then stepped out of the bedroom and stated to her boyfriend, "honey I need a wash cloth". Needless to say, she needed a towel. Imagine this, 2-3 hours after the accident her BAC indicated she was INTOXICATED, more than twice the legal limit of .080% BAC!!!!
